PROJECT 2

For our second project in AD1, we were given a lecture on Anthropometrics and Ergonomics as a preface where we had to pick a specific Banal Action and record the measurement of our body in a diagram. We then had to design a 1:1 Isolation Structure using recycled materials based on our bodily measurements and the Banal Action we chose with a chosen Design Intention and Narrative. In retrospect, I felt that this project was the most tedious of all the projects from any module particularly due to the sheer size of the project and the acquiring of the materials. Many sleepless nights ensued. This project first taught me how to make Orthographic Drawings which is crucial to an Architect's student journey. Once I finished the model I felt a huge sign of relief so much so it became hard for me to adjust when going into Project 3

Structure and Body: Materials, Anthropometric and Ergonomic Exploration-
[Isolation Structure]

When I think of an 'uncomfortable' place I would think of a cave and I then chose Egg Cartons for my materials where I stacked them to create a cave-like structure. The outcome fulfills my intention of discomfort

To create a 1.5 cubic metre isolation structure built out of recycled materials that is intended to be as uncomfortable as possible which reflects my emotions of Depression and Anxiety during this pandemic where the structure will not allow light and wind to come in and make the user feel discomfort
